Vanessa Bryant marks 19th wedding anniversary to late husband Kobe with cuddly snap: ‘I wish you were here to hold me’

Saturday marked another bittersweet milestone for Vanessa Bryant, widow of fallen NBA legend Kobe Bryant who lost his life in a tragic helicopter crash earlier this year.

On the occasion of what would have been the couple’s 19th wedding anniversary, the 37-year-old mother of four shared a romantic throwback photo of the couple, with Vanessa curled up on Kobe’s expansive lap as he nuzzles her with a kiss on the cheek.

Vanessa’s smile is wide and joyous as she places one hand on Kobe’s head, clearly pleased to be in her husband’s arms.

‘My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding anniversary baby. I miss you so much. I wish you were here to hold me in your arms,’ the widow wrote as a caption next to the lovely image.

‘I love you. ❤️’ she concluded.

Kobe, along with their 13-year-old daughter Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant and seven other people, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on the morning of January 26th.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, Vanessa shared another emotional post, which consisted of a 2001 MTV News clip in which Kobe, in a close-up shot, reflects on his relationship with his then-newlywed wife.

When asked what made him know Vanessa was ‘the one,’ the Lakers star paused and said it was ‘hard to pinpoint,’ and that ‘love is a funny thing.

‘But all I know is, she caught my heart. And I just knew that she was the one,’ he added.

In the now heartbreaking clip, Kobe also calls Vanessa a ‘strong’ and ‘strong-willed woman,’ and says that he sees them in the future as being ‘two cool-a** parents’ who are ‘full of energy.’

The basketball star was right about that, as the pair went on to welcome eldest daughter Natalia, now 17, the late Gigi, along with younger sisters Bianka, three, and Capri, nine months old.

Their mother Vanessa’s Instagram Story was also filled over the weekend with images of her late husband and daughter, most notably in light of Gigi’s recent honorary draft pick into the 2020 WNBA class.
