TALK OF THE TOWN: Ed Sheeran splits with his pub manager

TALK OF THE TOWN: Ed Sheeran hits a bum note after parting ways with his with the person who manages his Notting Hill pub Bertie Blossoms

Ed Sheeran may have the midas touch when it comes to writing hit songs, but when it comes to running a bar in trendy West London, he keeps hitting the wrong notes.

I hear that Ed and business partner Stuart Camp have parted ways with Alex Hughes, the manager of their Notting Hill pub Bertie Blossoms. It is the latest setback for the multi-millionaire star – the venue originally opened as a restaurant but suffered a string of poor reviews.

At least Ed, 29, is generously paying his staff their full wages during the lockdown. I do hope the bar can bounce back when things get back to normal.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge may be one of the world’s most in-demand writers, but I fear she has started believing her own hype.

Talking about creating a scene for the ‘Hot Priest’, played by Andrew Scott in her BBC hit Fleabag, Phoebe says: ‘You know sometimes you slightly disassociate yourself from ideas that you have. I came up with that one really early on, before I’d even come up with the character of the priest, and thought, “F***, that is smart.” ’

Nothing like blowing your own trumpet!
