A clever home cook has shared her delicious DIY kebab recipe – and revealed it costs her just $3 per meal.

The Australian mother, revealed she used beef mince, sausage mince, onion, lettuce, cheese, Lebanese bread, sauce and herbs, and all the ingredients costs her less than $15.

‘Craving kebabs tonight so instead of paying $10 to $11 each for takeaway which is about $40 to feed us in total, hubby is making them for us. They’re totally budget friendly and taste delicious,’ she wrote on Facebook.

First, the home cook sprinkled barbecue seasoning, garlic steak seasoning and some smoked paprika on the beef and sausage mince.

She then baked it in the oven on 170 degrees for approximately an hour or until brown and cooked.

The woman said the kebab is ‘super easy’ to make and is a family favourite in their household.

500g beef mince $5.50

500g sausage mince or skin 5 sausages $4.00

1 onion 40c

1 qtr lettuce. 60c

Cheese 50c

Lebanese bread. $1.79

Sauce

Herbs – Barbecue seasoning, garlic steak seasoning and smoked paprika

Method:

1.  Sprinkle barbecue seasoning, garlic steak seasoning and smoked paprika on beef and sausage mince

2. Bake in 170 degree oven for an hour or until brown and cooked through

3. Thinly slice the meat and place on Lebanese bread with onion, lettuce, cheese, tomato and sauce

‘Budget friendly nachos serve 4-6 [and costs] less than $3 each serve plus the extra toppings,’ she wrote on Facebook.

How to make nachos for less than $3 a serve

Ingredients:

– 250gms mince $4.50

– Taco seasoning $2 (only use half the pack) $1

– Tinned corn 90c (only use half) 45c

– 1 onion

– CC’s corn chips $1.75 (buy when on sale serves 4)

– Salsa $3.20 serves 4

– $10.90 Grated cheese

– Spring onion & sour cream if desired

Method:

1. Cook the mince on the stovetop and add the taco seasoning, corn and onion.

2. Spread the corn chips in a dish.

3. Pour meat on and add cheese then put in the oven for a few minutes until melted.

4. Can also add additional toppings on such as sour cream, beans and spring onion.
