Julius Cowdrey pens emotional song for the NHS following horrific battle with COVID-19

EXCLUSIVE: Made In Chelsea’s Julius Cowdrey details his horrific battle with COVID-19 which left him ‘anxious, paranoid and at an all-time low’ as he pens an emotional song for the NHS

Singer and former-reality star Julius Cowdrey has described his recent battle with coronavirus as ‘awful’ and has warned that ‘the virus spreads like wildfire’.

The ex-Made In Chelsea star, 27, has also penned a song dedicated to the NHS, which he hopes will raise proceeds for those on the frontline battling the pandemic.

Last month, Julius was confined to bed with symptoms of presumed COVID-19, which left him ‘anxious, paranoid and at an all-time low’.

He told MailOnline what he went through during the ordeal. ‘I had searing headaches, a continuous fever and cough and my energy levels were at an all time low,’ he explained. ‘I was so tired, I couldn’t even lift a pillow behind my head.

‘My experience of Corona was awful, it took a long time to feel normal again.’

Julius – being young and healthy – also didn’t expect to contract the illness.

‘Before I got it, I thought I’d be the last person to get it but I’d warn anyone who hasn’t had it, that it is so easily caught. This virus spreads like wildfire.

‘It felt like it was never going to end. It was making me super anxious and paranoid, it wouldn’t suit anyone who suffers from anxiety already.’

Julius has consequently penned the track Frontline for the NHS.

Although he was not admitted to hospital, the musician ‘wanted to write a song to say thank you to all those who are on the frontline risking their lives every day’.

He told us: ‘I wrote Frontline with my twin brother Fabian. We wrote it in 30 minutes, it just flowed out of us.

‘Due to lockdown, I recorded the vocals and piano in my bedroom and sent to producer Paul Stanborough to produce it remotely, I’m really happy with how it came out. I was sat by my piano and the only thing on my mind was everything that is happening right now.

‘All money raised from downloads and streams during this period will go towards NHS Charities together. If I can play my part and raise some money through this song, then amazing, every little bit helps.’

While he suffered from the illness, Julius shared with his Instagram followers how he felt.

‘My skin is sensitive all over,’ he wrote.

‘I had worst nights sleep I’ve probably ever had. I had to get up to go to the loo 10 times, shivering, almost fainting and I had to put a towel over my bed, I was sweating like I was in a sauna!

‘I saw every hour, I don’t wish this night upon anyone. My throat is dry too and hurts every time I speak or swallow, it feels quite similar to glandular fever or tonsillitis.

‘I’ve completely lost my appetite which is unlike me. I started getting paranoia in bed, scatty thoughts. It takes it out of your body but I think this virus hits your mind and emotional state too.’
