Gwyneth Paltrow unboxes frozen meats from small farms after admitting to being ‘more of an omnivore’

Gwyneth Paltrow appears to have turned her back on the macrobiotic diet she has become famed for advocating.

Taking to Instagram, the actress, 47, was excited to share a video in which she was unpacking a vast quantity of frozen meat during her time in quarantine.

The star, who recently told Harper’s Bazaar that she’s ‘become more of an omnivore,’ emphasised that the ‘humane, sustainable’ meat was ‘small farms’ – despite years of sticking to her grain, cereal and vegetable-focused diet.

Carnivorous delights: Gwyneth Paltrow was excited to share a large package she received this week with her 7M Instagram followers, which was filled to the brim with cuts of meat

In the brief snippet uploaded to the Oscar winner’s Instagram Story, she was showing the contents of her delivery – no doubt to the surprise of some of her fans.

She removed a letter on the top, which began by thanking the Goop founder ‘for supporting small businesses during these troubling times,’ and revealed a wide variety of meat products beneath it, from ground pork to steak.

‘Wow,’ Gwyneth said as she surveyed the package contents. ‘Look at this ribeye!’ she exclaimed as she held up a particularly scrumptious-looking cut of beef.

Over the clip, Paltrow wrote a message to the package’s sender, saying, ‘Thank you @CreamCo_Meats for this beautiful box of sustainable meats’. ‘100% natural with no hormones or antibiotics!!!’ she concluded.

Gwyneth often posts food-related content to both her personal Instagram account as well as that of her company Goop, which has become a healthy-living authority.

And while Paltrow’s 15-year-old daughter Apple is vegetarian, the actress makes sure that everyone is satisfied with the meals she serves at home, as she always makes sure there are veggie-only sides if a main dish were to include meat.

In 2008, Gwyneth discussed her famous diet, as she said: ‘I was macrobiotic for about three or four years, but when I got pregnant with Apple I wanted french fries, grilled cheese, and yoghurt, so it kind of went out the window…

‘I couldn’t look at brown rice. It made me throw up. But being macrobiotic is basically about eating local, organic, seasonal food that isn’t processed, and that’s how I eat now, so it’s not that different. I haven’t eaten meat for about fifteen years…

‘I eat fish, a little bit of dairy — not much milk — but I love cheese. We’ll make chocolate chip cookies and eat them, but sugar makes me feel pretty bad. I have coffee and wine. I’ve got lots of lovely vices.’

Apple, meanwhile, recently figured in a hilarious way on her mother’s Instagram page, when she supplied her own ‘interpretation’ of her mom’s to-do list with two uber-simple recommendations: ‘Make more vagina eggs & candles’.

This, of course, is sound advice, as Goop’s two biggest and buzziest products to date have both been vagina-related: the brand’s vagina jade eggs, as well as last year’s bestselling ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ candle.
