The Perfect Illusion performer said she hoped the evening would give the performers and fans alike the chance to forget about their troubles for a few hours.

‘Just sit back and enjoy the show because I also do believe that entertainers and artists have the unique ability to make people smile,’ the Grammy-winner told the cable program. ‘I would like to give them permission to smile during this time and to laugh when they can.

‘No matter how hard it gets, I want to remind them that there are artists that really love them.’

Lady Gaga wished her fans a Happy Easter on Sunday, amid a subdued holiday with people keeping in their homes and avoiding gatherings to quell the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Happy Easter to the world,’ the superstar songstress, said in a tweet. ‘Many are suffering right now, whether you celebrate Easter or not, I wish you the best day you could possibly have. Maybe just one smile. I wish that for you all today.’

The musical artist appeared Thursday on MSNBC roundtable Morning Joe, telling co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough that she hopes people can all be decent and civil to one another amid the trying times.

‘Kindness currency is absolutely free, and anyone can give it,’ said the Born This Way singer, who filled in the details on how she and other entertainers seek to use their collective platforms to help end the suffering brought upon by the global pandemic.

‘If we start to channel that as an artistic community, while partnering with CEOs and tech companies, as well as philanthropists, we can make this into a much bigger coalition that is about being kind,’ Gaga said.

As some celebrities have faced criticism for tone deafness amid the trying times – a group performance of Imagine led by Gal Gadot was a dud on social media – Gaga acknowledged that the challenges she faces during the lockdown differ from those with less resources.

‘I know distinctly that the position that I’m in in my home environment – is very different from somebody that’s living in an unsanitary environment where it’s very dense, where they can’t get clean food, where they don’t have a job or they’re losing their job,’ she said. ‘They can’t feed their children, they can’t feed themselves. Maybe they’re in a situation where there’s domestic abuse in the household.’

‘I feel that we are actually witnessing an absolute triumph of bravery and courage that is unprecedented during a global pandemic and that the medical community should be celebrated,’ she said.
