Killing Eve fans were left in shock on Sunday evening and Monday morning when a beloved character was killed in the season three debut. 

The show hit BBC America on Easter Sunday before landing on BBC iPlayer the following morning, after which shockwaves were sent at the death. 

Viewers swarmed social media to lament the death with fans writing: ‘[He] deserved better… He didn’t deserve that… OMG they killed [him]!’ yet lead writer lead writer Suzanne Heathcote insisted the death was key to the plot.

Sean Delaney’s character Kenny Stowton meets a sticky end in the new series as he is murdered by a mystery assailant amid his investigation of The Twelve.

Eve – played by Sandra Oh – arrived to meet Kenny before seeing a body fly past the window, only to discover Kenny’s lifeless corpse outside. 

Speaking ahead of the death scene, writer Suzanne said: ‘It’s hard because Kenny’s so beloved and understandably so. Sean is a brilliant actor as well. It’s always hard making those decisions…
