Charlotte Church calls The Chase star Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett as her Phone A Friend on Celeb Millionaire… but he DOESN’T KNOW the answer to the question

Charlotte Church called upon quiz show extraordinaire Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett for her Phone A Friend during Sunday night’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity Edition.

But this seemingly foolproof tactic didn’t quite go to plan.

Charlotte, 34, found herself stuck on a question asking ‘which of these publications was discontinued in print in 2019?’ which she struggled to land on an answer for.

Foolproof? Charlotte Church called upon quiz show extraordinaire Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett for her Phone A Friend during Sunday night’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity Edition

The options were The Independent newspaper, the Beano comic book, the Argos catalogue and the Yellow Pages.

Charlotte wondered whether it might be The Independent, but decided to call Mark, 54, who immediately ruled that out given that it went digital-online in 2017.

But Mark admitted he didn’t actually know the answer, guessing it was Yellow Pages, believing the others were ‘still around’.

Charlotte went on to use her 50/50 lifeline, which eliminated Beano and Argos catalogue, leaving her with Independent and Yellow Pages.

She chose the latter and won the round.

Host Jeremy Clarkson said it was a ‘clever’ tactic to enlist Mark, prior to the phone call.

‘I do know him, he’s my friend I know him from the Robin Hood pub,’ Charlotte told Jeremy.

When he answered the phone he confirmed he’d been a friend of the family for some time.

Charlotte went on to take home £32k for her two chosen charities – the Safe foundation and the Awen Project.

The £64k question left her stumped when she didn’t know  where the 1876 battle known as Custer’s Last Stand took place.

She tried asking Jeremy, using her final lifeline Ask The Host, but he wasn’t sure either, hence her decision to stick with her £32k winnings.
