Sales surged 97 per cent between January and March – the final quarter of its financial year.

Distil said it ramped up production when Covid-19 hit but the sales jump – which is higher than the 22 per cent rise reported across the industry – was also down to weaker results ahead of Brexit last year.

Howard Raymond, the son of the self-styled ‘King of Soho’ Paul Raymond, is the biggest investor, with a 10.9 per cent stake.
