Sharon Osbourne launches into bizarre rant about Simon Cowell

Sharon Osbourne has added more fuel onto the fire of her feud with Simon Cowell by launching into another bizarre rant.

The TV personality, 67, previously claimed that the music mogul refused to have her back as a judge on The X Factor because she was ‘too old’.

Speaking during her Honest AF Show podcast, Sharon said that she believes Simon ‘doesn’t like overweight people’ and has very ‘dated’ opinions.

She also claimed the he didn’t champion Jennifer Hudson during her time on American Idol because of her curvier physique.

She said: ‘Simon doesn’t have an ability to see individuals. He doesn’t like people who are overweight. Seriously.

‘That’s why he turned down Jennifer Hudson, that’s why he wouldn’t champion her on American Idol. But it’s the truth. He’s very dated (in his views).’

Although she allegedly didn’t receive Simon’s backing and placed just seventh on the show, Jennifer went on to bag an Oscar for her 2006 Dreamgirls performance.

Jennifer previously said: ‘Simon told me I was “too big” in every way. I think he meant my hair, my voice, my personality, my songs.

‘I didn’t really understand how that was a negative thing. I said, “Is big not what a star is?”‘

It seemed that Sharon and Simon had called truce on their feud last year, when Simon told the Mirror he would never criticise her for being ‘too mouthy’.

Simon claimed he would never criticise the TV personality for her loud nature when that was why he had hired her as a judge to begin with.

Simon told the publication: ‘I phoned her up the other day and said “Look, I’ll be honest with you. How could I criticise you for being mouthy when it’s the reason I hired you in the first place?!”

‘Sharon gets a bit carried away but deep down she’s got real affection for the shows.’

Adding that he’d happily welcome her back if she wanted, Simon said he would jump ‘on a plane in five seconds and she’d do the same’.

He continued: ‘There’s absolutely no bad blood at all and like I said, when people think I’m annoyed with her, I’m not! She’s a good friend and always will be.’

Just weeks before, Sharon mocked Simon’s plastic surgery as she said his ‘teeth are too white again’.

While in March, during an appearance on The Talk, the host also revealed she turned down a role in Fox’s The Masked Singer as she was signed up to return to the ITV show instead.

Sharon shared: ‘I turned down to be a judge on the Masked Singer. I was signed on to do another show at the time.

‘I was signed to go to England, and then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old. I was under contract and couldn’t do it.’

In her true comedic fashion, music manager Sharon joked: ‘Simon goes, “She’s old. We need somebody young.” So if you want young, fire yourself!’

Sharon previously shocked fans when she threatened to drown the music mogul in a blistering attack as she laid into the X Factor judging panel following her exit from the show.

Sharon starred on the competition series for a total of seven years, as she appeared on the first three seasons of the show from 2004 till 2007, before returning in 2013, 2016 and 2017.

This comes after it was claimed Simon wants to paint himself as the UK’s answer to Walt Disney, by launching a lucrative range of children’s toys and books.

Simon is currently creating a series of children’s books with his six-year-old son Eric, however he reportedly plans to expand into merchandise.

A source told the Mirror: ‘Kids’ entertainment and education is a huge business and Simon fancies a slice of the pie.’

They added: ‘Simon is always ahead of the curve when it comes to new trends in entertainment and he sees how lucrative the children’s market is and there is room for another big player.

‘He wants to take this project and make it the next phenomenon just as Walt Disney did for animation and leave a legacy and entertainment empire for son Eric.’
