Married At First Sight reunion: Why half of the couples were edited out

Married At First Sight EXCLUSIVE: The BRUTAL reason half the couples were edited out of the finale – and why some are ‘furious’ their interviews weren’t shown on TV

Married At First Sight’s seventh season finally came to an end on Sunday night.

But viewers only got to see half the couples actually sit in front of the relationship experts and reflect on their (mostly) failed relationships.

Despite the fact all 24 participants had gathered for the reunion, several of them were edited out and given just a few seconds of airtime.

A source told Daily Mail Australia there were two reasons why some couples weren’t shown: they were either too controversial, or too boring.

‘The producers wanted to end the season with a bang and some of the couples’ segments were just dull and there was nothing left to say,’ the insider said.

‘Their issues had already been resolved earlier in the season, so they wanted to focus on the bigger storylines’.

The exes that barely appeared on screen were: Amanda Micallef and Tash Herz, Josh Pihlak and Cathy Evans, Chris Nicholls and Vanessa Romito, Poppy Jennings and Luke Eglin, and Drew Brauer and KC Osborne.

It’s also understood that some of the participants were kept away from the cameras due to concerns over what they would say about their partners.

Last week, Chris Nicholls confirmed this rumour in an interview with NW magazine.

He claimed he wasn’t given time on the sofa because producers feared his ex-‘wife’, Vanessa Romito, would make defamatory and false claims about him.

‘I was advised that I was being protected by not giving Vanessa a platform,’ he said.

Meanwhile, some of the participants were ‘furious’ on Sunday night when their scenes weren’t aired on television.

The source explained: ‘Many had spent months planning what they would say at the reunion, knowing it was going to be their last big moment. Some even learned lines.

‘But in the end, they may as well have just stayed at home and not bothered.’
