Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell, 62, reveals testing positive for coronavirus on social media

Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell took to social media Wednesday to reveal that he’s tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 62-year-old Tony Award winner posted a one-minute video on Twitter and Instagram to update his friends, family and ‘Stokes folks’ fans.

Brian said he had been ‘laying low’ recently as he could feel his body ‘fighting something unusual.’

‘I just got confirmation that I have indeed tested positive for the coronavirus,’ he said.

The actor and singer said he’s been self-isolating in recent days in a bedroom and said his wife Allyson Tucker and son Ellington have not shown any symptoms.

Brian added that ‘every day that has past, has been better than the previous. So, I’m pretty sure I’m over the hump for this right now’.

‘I just want to let you know so you don’t worry about me. I’ll have updates for you as well,’ Brian said.

He also urged his followers to take care of themselves and to keep up their social distancing.

‘Thank you, guys. Love you,’ he added.

Brian won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2000 for his performance in Kiss Me, Kate.

He made his Broadway debut in 1988 in the musical Mail.

Brian plays Nicholas Prophet in Wolverine: The Long Night, a scripted serial podcast featuring the Marvel Comics character.

He also appeared in Glee as one of Rachel Berry’s father, LeRoy, along with Jeff Goldblum, 67.

Brian and Allyson have been married since 1994.
