Ramona Singer reveals RHONY is ‘lighter and happier’ after Bethenny Frankel left

The cast of the Real Housewives of New York all seem to agree on one thing: season 12 is shaping up to be one of the best in the show’s long history.

Ramona Singer, 63, held nothing back when she dished exclusively to DailyMailTV about the upcoming season, which she gushed is ‘lighter and happier and freer.’

This season will introduce new Housewife Leah McSweeney, who was brought in to replace Bethenny Frankel after her abrupt departure last year following a ‘dark’ time on the show.

‘I’m really excited to watch this season,’ Singer said. ‘And if I’m excited after 12 years, you know it’s really good!’

Adding: ‘I’ll describe it in one word: it’s unique. So unique. I’ve never filmed a season in 12 years like this season.’

Ramona went on to explain, what makes season 12 so ‘unique’ has a lot to do with the show coming out from the darkness of last year.

The Ageless by Ramona owner feels like the group on the whole was different this season and, frankly, the viewers wanted something different.

'I¿m really excited to watch this season,' Singer said. 'And if I¿m excited after 12 years, you know it¿s really good! I¿ll describe it in one word: it¿s unique. So unique. I¿ve never filmed a season in 12 years like this season.'

‘From what I understand, [viewers] thought that the past three seasons, when Bethenny was on, it got very dark,’ she said. ‘And I’m not saying she was the reason, but there’s a different dynamic here.’

From Ramona’s perspective, the cast has gotten to a certain comfort level with each other when it comes to filming and by going ‘deeper within’ themselves, the ladies of the Big Apple have forged a stronger bond.

‘Everyone was just lighter and happier and freer, and nothing ever got dark,’ Singer revealed. ‘It never got dark. Did we have conflicts? Absolutely. Did we have resolutions? Sometimes. Sometimes not. But it went to a whole different level.’

Earlier this week, Luann de Lesseps echoed those sentiments telling DailyMailTV that season 12 is the best yet, in her opinion. And, Ramona went so far as to add that the cast has ‘never been so unified as a group.’

‘We’re having a lot of fun together,’ Singer dished. ‘I mean, we definitely get angry at each other and have these major blowout fights, but it’s a lot of fun.

‘I actually had a lot of fun filming this year. Like the best time ever I think in a long time.’

One cast member who has notoriously butted heads with Singer is fellow blonde Dorinda Medley. On Tuesday, Dorinda said the new season was one of ‘fun-filled drama.’

Ramona, however, hinted that some of that drama might be coming from Dorinda herself this year.

‘With Dorinda, when she goes from 0-100 in 1 minute, I’ve learned, there’s no talking to her. The more you try to reason with her, the angrier she gets,’ Ramona said. ‘And then, the next day, she feels very, um, remorseful.’

Adding: ‘We all love Dorinda and we’re all trying to get to the bottom of who she is and you’ll have to watch the show to see if we get to the bottom of it or not.’

This year, Ramona will be tuning into the season premiere from quarantine in Florida where she is isolating with her daughter Avery and her ex Mario during the coronavirus crisis.

‘I cannot believe this is day 18 of self-isolating with Avery and Avery’s dad, Mario. I have to say, it’s going pretty well,’ she said with a hint of surprise in her voice. ‘Much better than I anticipated. We’re really bonding.’

Ramona turned heads when she shared a snap on Instagram of her ‘cleaning’ while social distancing in lingerie and she joked that is how she ‘always’ dresses when she cleans.
