Michelle Bridges speaks fast and appears flustered during her first live TV interview since DUI

Former Biggest Loser trainer Michelle Bridges was caught drink driving with her four-year-old son, Axel, in the car on January 26.

And on Wednesday, the celebrity fitness expert delivered her first live television interview since pleading guilty on February 18.

During an appearance on Sunrise, the 49-year-old fitness guru spoke quickly and barely took a breath while sharing her workout tips for people in self-isolation.

In self-isolation at her Sydney home with her son, an activewear-clad Michelle put on a brave face as she spoke about how families can stay safe, happy and healthy during the pandemic.

Many times hosts David ‘Kochie’ Koch and Natalie Barr were head trying to interrupt Michelle during her long answers to their questions.

She promoted her online program, 12 Week Transformation by Michelle Bridges, but also gave tips for people who didn’t have access to a trainer or equipment.

She explained: ‘With family, when it comes to motivation… having your workout buddy and workout time, is probably one of the best ways to ensure you tick that box.’

The pair parted ways in late December, but Michelle didn’t announce their split until weeks later – after she was arrested for mid-range drink driving with her four-year-old son, Axel, in the car.

Michelle revealed for the first time what really happened the day she was charged with drink driving, admitting that she made a ‘poor decision’.

Speaking to this week’s Stellar magazine, she said she had been drinking with girlfriends the night before as she nursed a broken heart following her split from partner Steve.   

The fitness instructor revealed: ‘Privately I was going through a pretty stressful time on a personal level, coming to terms with my relationship breakdown.’

It was not public knowledge the pair had split when Michelle was charged with drink driving on Sunday, January 26 [Australia Day].

Michelle was pulled over in her Range Rover at about 11:25am in Bellevue Hill on Sunday, January 26, with Axel in the backseat.

Michelle returned a positive blood alcohol reading of 0.086.

On February 18, Michelle was fined $750 and had her licence disqualified for three months after pleading guilty to mid-range drink driving.    

She had tried to avoid a conviction by hiring a high-profile defence barrister, but wasn’t granted any leniency by the judge.

Afterwards, a tearful Michelle said outside Waverley Court: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep remorse, shame and humiliation [over] this incident and extreme lack of judgment.
