‘Manipulative and delusional!’ Married At First Sight fans slam Steve Burley after he tells Mishel Karen he loves her at the final commitment ceremony
At their final commitment ceremony on Monday’s episode of Married At First Sight, Steve Burley told ‘wife’ Mishel Karen that he loves her.
But after their hot and cold relationship, and lack of intimacy throughout the series, fans were not at all convinced by the declaration.
Several took to Twitter to slam the 52-year-old barber for what some saw as ‘fake’ and ‘manipulative’ behaviour.

One fan watching at home Tweeted of Steve’s comments: ‘Steve’s manipulative and delusional’.
Another chimed in that while Steve claimed he loved his ‘wife’ he did not seem to be attracted to her, writing: ‘I love you’ – just not enough to s**g, eh Steve?’
Someone else added: ‘That fly buzzing around his face has a stronger bond with Steve than Mishel does.’

Others were simply confused by what he meant, one writing: ‘Now I’m actually confused with Steve – did he say he still wants her as a friend or not?’
Some fans felt he was ‘playing a game’, or simply trying to make himself look better after some controversial moments.
‘Steve is saying this only cause he knows she’ll say no – and that’s what he wants. It’s the only way to redeem himself a bit,’ one Tweeted.
Another agreed: ‘Steve’s backflip is obviously a little too late, lol. He knows that he’s about to be shut down by Mishel and thinks that people will feel sorry for him in the end… but no one will.’

She told Steve at the final ceremony: ‘The fact you kept telling me you were not attracted to me made me doubt myself, doubt my attractiveness, lose confidence and strength’
Others yet simply didn’t believe him, one writing: ‘And the Golden Raspberry award for worst most fake performance goes to Steve!’
Mishel, 48, was not convinced either, telling Steve at the final ceremony: ‘The fact you kept telling me you were not attracted to me made me doubt myself, doubt my attractiveness, lose confidence and strength.
‘If the words you said to me were true and honest, then why did you not act on those feelings? You couldn’t even kiss me to find out.’
