Married At First Sight viewers branded Stacey Hampton an ‘idiot’ for choosing to stay with ‘husband’ Michael Goonan during the final vow ceremony on Sunday.
In a series of tweets, fans of the show questioned how the 26-year-old law graduate could move past the cheating scandal involving co-star Hayley Vernon.

Another said that when Michael, 29, admitted to his flaws during the ceremony, Stacey should have realised they weren’t compatible.
‘Yes, when Michael tells us his bad points, she should believe him – he knows himself best. Stacey should run!’ they wrote.
One branded Stacey an ‘idiot’ for choosing to stay with the millionaire entrepreneur – also accusing her of being more interested in his money.
‘Watching #MAFSAU to forget about real life. Stacey is a bloody idiot. This guy is a tool and she only wants [dollar sign],’ they said.

During their final vow ceremony, Stacey berated Michael over his cheating scandal with Hayley, 32.
Stacey told Michael how he’d made her ‘feel worthless’ and ‘crushed her heart with his hands’ – just minutes after he’d confessed his love for her.
However, Stacey went on to admit she’s since forgiven Michael for the infidelity and agreed to leave the show together, finally getting her ‘fairytale ending’.

Michael was the first to read his romantic vows at their outdoor ceremony.
He gushed: ‘What a journey we have embarked on. It feels like a lifetime ago that you stood in front of me as a stranger. You met me as a confused, juvenile boy. And now I stand here in front of you as a more mature man and husband.
‘I was arrogant, naive and immature. I thought I knew everything when it came to relationships – but how wrong was I? You could have given up on me so many times, but I know you saw the good in me. For this, I’m eternally grateful.
‘You’ve become my rock and you make me a person I’m honestly proud to be. Stacey, this decision is simple, you’re my best friend, lover and soul mate.’

Stacey appeared overwhelmed by Michael’s words, before then reading her own.
She began: ‘When I heard you talk for the first time, I was concerned. I thought, “Here we go, another immature boy that I’m about to take on and give my all to” – but during the honeymoon, things began to change.
‘I couldn’t remember the last time I spent so long laughing – and I started to find hope in us. I began feeling comfortable and safe – finally my fairytale was happening. Then it all fell apart.’

The mum-of-two went on to discuss Michael’s alleged drunken kiss with Hayley, which she’s repeatedly said happened – but he claims to have no memory of.
Stacey continued: ‘You were accused of cheating on me, and in that moment all of my hope and newfound happiness disappeared. My heart froze and I realised I was an idiot that let you in. I’d told you about how the impact of my brother’s death and losing my father hurt me.
‘I opened up and told you that all I wanted to do was love and be loved. You took every part of my heart and crushed it with your hands. You made me feel worthless.’

However, she added that despite this, Michael has since proven he is trustworthy.
Stacey concluded: ‘I know you can talk your way out of a paper bag so it’s actions that I needed to see. Those actions began when you started sending me flowers on my brother’s birthday. Then you stopped drinking alcohol and stopped attending events with the boys for six weeks.
‘You did what you told me you would and you changed through actions. So here I am, sharing my deepest, darkest emotions with you. I know what we have isn’t perfect, but it has taken tears, heartbreak and a huge amount of compromising to get here – we are us, and we are unbreakable.
‘I love you Michael, and nothing would make me happier than leaving here hand in hand with someone who can finally show me love and laughter,’ she gushed
