‘She lives according to her own set of rules’: Jodie Comer believes here Killing Eve character Villanelle is starting to rub off on her

Jodie Comer has revealed she believes her psychopathic Killing Eve character Villanelle is starting to rub off on her.

The actress, 27, has won widespread acclaim for her role in the BBC crime series and told how she admires how the character lives life by her own rules.

She told The Mirror: ‘She may be a cold-blooded killer, but you can also appreciate that her victims perhaps deserve to die. She doesn’t kill people randomly, there’s a reason and conviction behind her actions.

‘What I think resonates with women is her honesty and unfiltered reactions to others – she lives according to her own set of rules and does as she pleases. I admire that.’

The Liverpool native drew a comparison between herself and Villanelle, saying she also has learned to trust her instincts like her daredevil character.

She said: ‘I believe in myself and I trust my instincts and sense of purpose. I’m not someone who plans things out in advance, so I rely on my faith that things will somehow work themselves out if I keep working hard. I believe in karma.’

It was recently announced that series three of Killing Eve will be released in the US two weeks earlier than planned on BBC America.

The hit thriller took to its Twitter to reveal that the third season will now debut on Sunday April 12 as they unveiled a new explosive trailer.

Yet British viewers were left disappointed by the news as a UK release date still remains unknown, with fans speculating it could be June.

The Killing Eve account wrote: ‘Ahhhhhhhhhhh. #KillingEve returns two weeks early, Sunday, April 12 at 9pm on @BBCAmerica and @AMC_TV.’

The programme also posted a new explosive first look at series three, which saw Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) alive and well after she was left for dead in series two by Villanelle.

Killing Eve has a tradition of ending each series with the fate of a main character in jeopardy, series one ended with Eve having stabbed Villanelle while series two concluded with the latter shooting the MI6 agent.

The cliffhanger finale of series two ended with Villanelle shooting Eve and leaving her for dead, after the assassin imagined living with Eve together in Alaska.

Co-showrunner Sally Woodward Gentle revealed that producers had considered if the duo should ‘do a Thelma and Louise’, but added: ‘Then what do they do?’

She told The Hollywood Reporter that Eve would ‘very quickly realise that she had been deluding herself about the reality of what that life would actually be’.

Sally said the already-announced third season would be ‘something that feels bold and different from the one before and you can explore big ideas’.

Killing Eve series three airs on April 12 at 9pm on BBC America and AMC TV.
