Jennifer Lopez stays active during self-isolation as she plays baseball

After retiring from the Yankees nearly four years ago, Alex Rodriguez has come out of retirement to play some backyard family baseball.

The former professional shortstop was joined by his fiancé Jennifer Lopez and her daughter Emme, 12, for a game of catch after the Major League Baseball’s delayed its season over coronavirus.

‘No Opening Day. No Sunday Night Baseball,’ the athlete captioned a video of his family goofing off in the backyard on Saturday.

While he somberly reflected on not being a part of a sold-out crowd or singing a ‘seventh-inning stretch rendition’ of Take Me Out to the Ballgame, the MLB star used the opportunity to remind himself to ‘slow down and spend time with family.’

‘We hit, we threw, we played catch, we caught ground balls and pop flies. We laughed. We exercised,’ said the father-of-two, who shares Natasha, 15, and Ella, 11, with ex Cynthia Scurtis.

‘It’s a reminder of how much fun you can have with people you love … with just a bat, glove and few balls,’ he said of his ‘Saturday Game of the Week’ at home.

Rodriguez also urged fans to find ways to exercise and reduce stress during the pandemic.

‘Find ways to stay in touch with those you can’t be with in person right now,’ he said. ‘Stay connected, and most importantly, stay safe!’

On Tuesday, A-Rod, Lopez and Emme also stepped up to the plate with Rodriguez’s daughters Natasha, 15 and Ella, 11.
