Thanks to coronavirus, we’re all stuck in the house — or garden, if you’re lucky enough to have one —for the foreseeable.

But self-isolation doesn’t have to mean spending the day in a pair of grotty pyjamas eating baked beans from a tin — at least not if you’re one of the lucky super-rich.

There are a lot of ways to make lockdown more than a little luxurious. And, yes, there are people who, far from fearfully stockpiling essentials, are buying this stuff.

So, from slippers studded with diamonds to solid-gold dinner trays, here’s how to self-isolate in super style.

£2.5 million jewel-studded teapot 

Officially the world’s most expensive teapot, this gem-encrusted masterpiece — made by tea company Newby — is known as ‘The Egoist’, because it can only hold a single cup of tea (making it perfect for self-isolation).

Valued at £2.5million, it took more than 1,730 hours of work by a skilled Italian jeweller to decorate the pot, which features 1,658 brilliant-cut diamonds and 386 brilliant-cut rubies, centred around a huge Thai ruby in the shape of the sun. 

The handle is made from rare mammoth ivory. 

The £19k board game

Now’s the ideal time to play board games. Why not try a marble set of Go from Harrods — yours for just £18,600.

Or try Deluxe Outrage, above, a UK-made game in which the aim is to steal the Crown Jewels (featuring real rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds). 

The playing pieces are made from 18-carat gold or sterling silver and the board comes in a wooden carry case with a brass handle and lock. 

At £18,955, it’s one of the world’s most expensive board games.

Coffee to get your engine running

Diamond-studded mouse and gold-plated keybaord 

The world’s most expensive computer mouse is made by Swiss technology company Pat Says Now. 

The Diamond Flower Limited Edition is cast from 18-carat white gold (yellow and rose gold are also available) and set with 2 carats of white, brilliant-cut diamonds, arranged in a delicate floral pattern.

Each £16,200 mouse is made to order and comes in a bespoke jewel box — but you’ll have to get your request in soon, as they take up to three weeks to produce.

Gold-plated keyboards by technology company ADATA are even harder to come by; there are only seven in circulation. 

The £8,068 devices, made from aluminium and plated in 24-carat gold, work just like normal keyboards. 

Make music with a £14k jukebox 

Brighten up your day — or dance around in your (finest) pyjamas — with some retro tunes from an old-fashioned jukebox. 

This £14,500 machine, available at Harrods, features beautiful images of birds and fruit and wouldn’t look out of place in a pop star’s mansion.

Its grey patchwork design, featuring national flags, is meticulously hand-stitched, with each robe taking 200 hours to produce.

If you — or the kids — enjoy virtual games, why not get your hands on this 24-carat gold PlayStation controller by luxury brand Brikk?

We’re all going to be watching a lot of TV so you might as well make your viewing experience as opulent as possible.
