Joonas was an obvious choice to take over the part of Chewbacca, Han Solo’s co-pilot and best friend, due to his extraordinary height, and first played Peter’s double in A Force Awakens.
Of taking over the role, Joonas told MailOnline at The Rise Of Skywalker’s London premiere in December: ‘It has been an opportunity of a lifetime to take over from Peter, I’ve always been a Star Wars fan.
‘My dad showed us the movies when I was about four or five years old, probably too young to be watching a Star Wars movie but I’m so grateful.
‘Knowing the legacy and the importance of it to the people and the fans is really, I take it with great gratitude what I’ve been able to be a part of. I want to come back if I can in the future.’
Announcement: Joonas took to Instagram to share a snap of Princess Bacca with fans in February, the happy couple have yet to reveal their daughter’s name
