Coronation Street stars Joe Duttine and Sally Carman have announced they’re engaged during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The soap couple announced the exciting news on Twitter, with Joe joking that coronavirus can ‘f**k off.’

Sally and Joe, who star as Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe in Coronation Street, were first pictured together in August 2018, and moved in together last November.

Tweeting a snap of Sally’s sparkling new engagement ring Joe captioned the post: ‘She said yes everyone, convid 19 can f**k off…’ 

Noting his spelling mistake he then added: ”Convid, covid, whuteva.’ 

Sally later re-tweeted the post with the simple caption: ‘I did’ along with a love heart emoji.’

She also confirmed the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a snap with the caption: ‘So this happened… #yes.’

In another snap, Sally and Joe toasted champagne, with the post captioned: ‘We’ve got each other.’

In November Sally took to Instagram to share an adorable snap with Joe as they celebrated finally moving in together. 

The pair posed in their kitchen which features sleek counter tops and a large wooden island with a fruit bowl while a large circular light hangs from the ceiling.

They told their colleagues about their budding romance at the soap’s summer party in Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse.

A source told The Sun: ‘Both Joe and Sally had been single for a while and just met at the right time in their lives.

‘Sally thinks Joe is a funny and caring guy and he’s really fallen for her, too. They’ve now told their castmates and everyone thinks it’s a match made in heaven.’

Sally and Joe have become more vocal about their relationship since they were first pictured together with the actress regularly sharing loved-up snaps of the pair. 

Joe joined Corrie first in 2013 as Tim, the biological father of Faye Windass, with his earlier storylines often focusing on his relationship with her adoptive family.

Sally, who is also known for starring as Kelly Maguire in Shameless, made her first appearance on the soap in 2017 when she was introduced as the mother of Seb Franklin.
