Taking no chances: Actress Charlotte Best wears surgical gloves and a mask as she returns to Australia from Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic

  • All international arrivals into Australia will be forced to self-isolate for two weeks
  • New rules around self-isolation came into force from midnight on March 16
  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

Australian actress Charlotte Best is the latest celebrity to fly home amid the coronavirus global pandemic.

The former Home And Away star, 26, will be forced to self-isolate for 14 days, as per the government’s strict new travel rules.

Looking cautious after her long-haul flight from Los Angeles, Charlotte was seen wearing a surgical mask and gloves at Sydney international airport on Tuesday.

In recent days, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti warned the city that the worst of the coronavirus pandemic was still to come, and expected the death toll to dramatically increase in the coming week.

With Australia’s reported cases and deaths per million of the population considerably lower than that of the USA, it’s believed Charlotte chose to return Down Under in seek of refuge from COVID-19.

The model kept warm in an all-black ensemble, and left her brunette locks down.

Charlotte appeared to be taking health precautions seriously by covering most of her face with a thin surgical mask, used gloves and appeared to carry her luggage in blue sacks.

It appears her family had become increasingly concerned for her wellbeing overseas during the COVID-19 outbreak in recent weeks.

‘Gotta love it when your parents ask for a photo of you or a FaceTime sesh every single day to prove you’re happy and healthy whilst travelling… yes hi we’re still alive love you xxx,’ she captioned a selfie on her Instagram on March 14.
