‘Refugees and asylum seekers were ushered in just 2 at a time from a queue that would stretch for hours, to choose from two weeks of goods left to feed over 300 desperate families,’ Madeleine wrote.

‘This is coronavirus and it hits the stateless hardest, those who are now staring down the very real possibility of no food AT ALL for the next few months,’ she continued.

She went on to describe the plight of refugees and asylum seekers in the wake of coronavirus.

[They have] one roll of toilet paper per week, one tin of lentils per person per week, a half cup of rice.. and still many of us are scouting supermarkets stockpiling sorbent…???’ she wrote.

Madeleine completed her post by encouraging others to volunteer, even if it means risking getting coronavirus themselves.

‘Often those who perceive a risk too great because they have so much to lose actually have the least,’ she warned.
