Michelle Williams and director Thomas Kail ‘secretly wed’

Michelle Williams and her director beau Thomas Kail are reportedly husband and wife.

A source close to the couple, who are currently expecting their first child together, told UsWeekly on Monday that they tied the knot in secret.

The news comes days after DailyMail.com obtained images of Williams and Kail wearing what appeared to be wedding rings while meeting up with friends in New York City.

The site offered no additional information about their alleged private wedding.

The Oscar award-winning actress became engaged to Kail in December of last year, around the same time she was reported to be expecting the director’s child.

‘They’re very happy and thrilled to be bringing a baby into the world,’ a source revealed to Us Weekly back in January.

The source also claimed that Williams ‘hoped to be married’ to Kail before the birth of their baby.

Williams, 39, and Kail, 43, met while working on the FX mini-series Fosse/Vernon, which premiered in April of 2019.

The newlyweds ‘fell hard and fast for each other,’’ but their quick entry into romance allegedly made things ‘messy behind the scenes’ with their former flames.

That same month, Michelle would file for divorce from her husband of less than a year, singer-songwriter Phil Elverum. The pair had married during the summer of 2018.

Kail divorced actress Angela Christian towards the tail end of 2018.

Though the director will be becoming a first time father with Michelle, the 39-year-old actress is already mother to 14-year-old daughter Matilda.

Williams shares Matilda with the late Heath Ledger, who passed away in 2008 from a fatal drug overdose.

As she prepares to welcome her second child into the world, Michelle revealed she is taking a backseat from acting.

Last month, before taking home the SAG Award for Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her role as Gwen Verdon, she opened about her plans to stay at home in preparation of her family’s new addition.

‘I haven’t taken a job since [Fosse/Verdon],’ she said.

‘I have something else I have to go do. I’ll be home, but it’s a hard act to follow,’ she told Us Weekly while touching her baby bump.

Kail is best known for his directorial work in Broadway’s productions of In The Heights and the Tony award-winning musical Hamilton, both written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
