Kyle Sandilands’ fury as he falls for office coronavirus prank

Kyle Sandilands is left red-faced as he’s tricked into thinking the office elevator is ‘clap activated’ as a COVID-19 safety measure

The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s ‘Intern Pete’ Deppeler is known as a practical joker.

And on Tuesday, he left radio host Kyle Sandilands red-faced by pulling a hilarious prank at the KIIS FM headquarters in North Ryde, Sydney.

Pete tricked Kyle into thinking the office elevator had been upgraded as a safety precaution amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He fell for it! On Tuesday, Kyle Sandilands was tricked into thinking KIIS FM’s office elevator had been upgraded as a COVID-19 safety measure

Pete put up a sign that read: ‘This elevator is now clap activated.’

Kyle fell for the prank and was convinced it was a genuine measure to prevent staff from touching surfaces.

In footage shared to Instagram, he clapped twice in front of the elevator before waiting a few seconds and clapping for a third time.

Intern Pete then ran down the hallway and told Kyle it was just a practical joke.

‘I got you, you silly billy! it’s not voice-activated, it’s a joke!’ he said.

Realising he had just been tricked, Kyle pointed out that Pete had screwed up his own punchline.

‘Clap activated… You couldn’t even finish the joke properly,’ he said.

It comes after Kyle and his co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, were forced to self-isolate for three days last week after a coronavirus scare.

They began broadcasting from home last Tuesday, after making contact with Christian Wilkins on March 10.

There were fears Christian had been exposed to COVID-19 by his father, Richard Wilkins, who tested positive on March 15, but his test came back negative.

Jackie is continuing to broadcast from home, where she is looking after her school-aged daughter, while Kyle comes into the office on occasion.

As of Tuesday morning, there are 1,866 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia and seven deaths.
