‘We are all in the same boat and we must work together as one community in battling this deadly virus.

‘Washing your hands, if you weren’t already, is a simple measure to start practicing. Washing your hands after being outside, going shopping, visiting the loo, just before and after eating and wiping all surfaces down will help in preventing the disease from spreading further.

‘To help raise awareness, the EastEnders invited us to participate in making a short video.

‘I thought what better way to get the message across than an up-beat video of the much loved EastEnders theme tune?

‘Bhangra is fiercely uplifting and everyone loves EastEnders. In my eyes, it was the perfect match.’

Balvinder, who has also starred in Coronation Street and Emmerdale Farm, added: ‘We are on high alert in terms of cleanliness and so it is crucial to follow the advice being given. Self-isolate, practise social distancing and stay indoors where ever possible.

‘Please keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Be kind and generous. And please, take the advice – Wash. Your. Hands.’
