Phoebe Tonkin has made an impassioned plea for people to stay home amid the coronavirus epidemic. 

In an Instagram post shared on Sunday, the 30-year-old posted a photo which she had posed for earlier in the year, taken in an idyllic field. 

The actress wrote at length: ‘It has been a very crazy year indeed. I remember shooting this at the end of January in Adelaide, South Australia, feeling so grateful to be shooting in a part of my country that hadn’t been devastated by fires.

‘Now we are in a different type of crisis, but seeing these photos reminded me of how much love I have for my country.’

She went to great pains to recommend that her fans take part in self isolation to help end the spread of the virus. 

‘Also, I want to drive this point home to my fellow Australians. PLEASE STAY HOME. Please take this seriously. 

‘We have enough work to do to help rebuild our country after the horrific wildfires,’ she wrote.

Phoebe added: ‘We need each other. Follow in the footsteps of the rest of the world. The beach will still be there after all of this. Stay home for one another, for our immune compromised, for our elders, for ourselves. 

‘We overcame one heartbreaking disaster this year. We showed the world our resilience and our strength. Let’s apply those same values again, and stay home’. 

She also shared an Instagram Story photo in which the stunner is makeup free and dressed in comfortable clothes while in isolation.

The actress joins a long list of celebrities using their online platforms to encourage followers and fans to practice social distancing and isolation. 

A-List Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman along with local celebrities like Phoebe Burgess have been vocal amid the pandemic.   

As of Sunday, there are 1,3490 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia and seven deaths.
