‘I’m not used to being alone’: Married At First Sight’s Michael Goonan is told he’ll have to move to Melbourne for work creating more trust issues in his relationship with Stacey Hampton

Just hours out from Married At First Sight’s final commitment ceremony on Wednesday, Michael Goonan discovered he’d have to relocate to Melbourne for work, leaving his relationship with ‘wife’ Stacey Hampton in doubt.

‘For me, with moving to Melbourne, long distance is going to be a really big challenge for our relationship,’ Michael, 28, admitted, after previously struggling to stay faithful.

He added: ‘I hope to hell Stacey knows I’m not going to mess up again.’

Although the move would only be for three months, Michael admitted it had ‘thrown a bit of a spanner in the works’.

He explained they’d planned to move in together in their hometown of Adelaide as soon as the show ended, meaning they’d now have to settle for a long distance relationship.

Admitting it was going to be ‘challenging’, Michael was confident the couple could make it work.

‘I’m not used to being alone. I always surround myself with people. But I don’t want to have those boys’ nights out anymore,’ he claimed.

‘I don’t want to look to the lads for company. I’d rather probably do the FaceTime with Stacey… It’s going to be difficult, but I’m 100 per cent committed to it.’

But Stacey, 26, confessed she had some ‘doubts’ and was still overcoming trust issues after Michael reportedly kissed former bride Hayley Vernon on a wild night out.

‘When you do go off on your separate ways and he’s not under my wing all the time, I think my trust will really be put to the test,’ she admitted.

She added: ‘This is an issue for me. Him moving to Melbourne is big. It is a big thing, and that is going to be a big thing for my trust especially. I have so many doubts.’

Despite saying it wasn’t ‘ideal’, Stacey and Michael both voted to stay in the experiment.
