Katy Perry had a day in court to roar about.

The 35-year-old songstress, according to The Hollywood Reporter, was on the right end in a $2.8 million copyright infringement lawsuit she was involved in.

Perry, along with producer Lukasz ‘Dr. Luke’ Gottwald and Capitol Records, were relieved of paying $2.8 million in a reversal of a previous judgment from U.S. District Court Judge Christina Snyder in an ongoing suit filed by Flame, a Christian rapper.

A reason to smile: Katy Perry, 35, was on the right end in a $2.8 million copyright infringement lawsuit she was involved in. She was snapped in Bright, Australia earlier this month

In his lawsuit, Flame, whose real name is Marcus Gray, claimed the California native and her collaborators lifted elements from his track Joyful Noise for their 2013 track Dark Horse.

Judge Snyder ruled that the comparisons to the ‘riff’ of each track failed an ‘extrinsic test’ she conducted with Todd Decker, a musicologist. Last August, a Los Angeles jury awarded $2.78 million in damages to the rapper, saying they believed infringement had occurred.

The good news for Perry came as MasterChef Australia shared a shot of the superstar songstress and the show’s judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, confirming her appearance on the show.
