Police launch murder probe after teenager, 18, stabbed to death in south London

Police have launched a murder probe today after a teenager was knife to death in south London.

Officers were called at just before 3.30pm on Sunday to Academy Road, at the junction with Shooters Hill, in Woolwich, to reports of a man with stab injuries.

The emergency services found the victim, believed to be aged 18, in the Woolwich Common area.

Despite the efforts of passers-by, police and paramedics, the man died at the scene.

Officers believe they know the identity of the dead teenager and have informed next of kin.

The Specialist Crime Command have been informed and urgent enquiries are under way to establish what happened.

A crime scene and road closures are in place.
