Coronavirus pandemic: The Voice Australia HALTS production

The Voice Australia HALTS production: Popular singing show becomes the latest TV industry casualty amid the coronavirus pandemic

The Voice Australia has become the latest television project to be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming of season nine has been suspended because coaches Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland, and new host Renee Bargh, are all still overseas.

The Playoff rounds were scheduled to be recorded in front of a studio audience at Bulldog Park, in Sydney’s west, on March 26 and 27.

A Nine spokesperson confirmed the news to Daily Mail Australia.

‘Filming of The Voice has been temporarily postponed in the wake of the Coronavirus and new Government protocols,’ they said.

‘The show is still currently on track to begin airing in its originally planned time frame, which will be announced in the coming months.’

This year’s season of The Voice will be hosted by Renee Bargh and Darren McMullen.

It’s likely to premiere in late April or early May, if previous seasons are anything to go by.

Because Guy, Kelly and Renee are all overseas, they will have to spend two weeks in self-isolation in accordance with the government’s rules on international arrivals.

The drastic measures come as the number of confirmed cases in Australia climbs to almost 300. Five people have died from the illness across the nation so far.

The forced isolation for international arrivals comes after New Zealand imposed the same restrictions last week.

Penalties for not self-isolating will be determined separately by each state and territory.
