‘Housemates are across the situation’: Big Brother Australia cast have been told about the coronavirus pandemic as production on the show continues
The new cast of Big Brother have been informed of the coronavirus pandemic which is currently gripping the world.
Speaking to News.com.au on Monday, producers at Endemol Shine confirmed the housemates have now been informed of the virus.
‘Housemates have been brought across the current situation,’ a spokesperson said, adding they are in ‘constant contact’ with families.

Endemol explained they are taking the health precautions of the cast ‘extremely seriously’, and are working within health guidelines.
‘We are working in line with current guidelines and production on Big Brother is continuing.’
Big Brother Australia began filming in Manly, Sydney, approximately three weeks ago.
According to earlier reports in The Australian, Seven had chosen not to tell the contestants about the health crisis while they’re in self-isolation.
Coronavirus was confirmed as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation on March 11. The first case in Australia was reported in January.
The Big Brother set is possibly one of the safest quarantine zones in Sydney.

The housemates are in total isolation in a purpose-built compound, which is understood to be well supplied with food and essentials.
They aren’t told about major news events until after they’ve been eliminated.
Australia has more than 300 confirmed coronavirus cases, including five deaths, as of Monday afternoon.

Of the five deaths, four were in New South Wales, where Big Brother is being filmed.
Big Brother Australia, which is being pre-recorded for the first time in its history, has no confirmed air date.
Seven’s programming chief Angus Ross told TV Tonight in January that the reality show would likely launch before the Olympics in July.
