Nicole Kidman’s former PA Gemma Fordham worked with her amid Tom Cruise split 

She’s the godmother to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s daughter Sunday Rose, 11.

And on Sunday, Nicole’s former PA Gemma Fordham revealed what it was like working for the Australian actress during her split from Tom Cruise in 2001. 

The 36-year-old, who is the head of the Hit radio network, said she used her Australian sense of humour to comfort Nicole through the tough time.  

‘She’d had Americans in the role previously and, given she was in the midst of separating from Tom [Cruise], she wanted someone who had an Aussie sense of humour,’ Gemma told the Daily Telegraph. 

‘My job was to do whatever I could to make sure she could perform at her best. She shaped the woman I am today. I learnt so much from her about looking after people.’

Nicole married Tom in 1989, and the couple adopted daughter Isabella, 27, and son Connor Antony, 25, during their time together.

After 10 years of marriage, Tom filed for divorce in February 2001, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind his split from Nicole.

It took seven months for the marriage to be dissolved, during which time Gemma comforted Nicole as her newly-hired personal assistant. 

Nicole married singer Keith Urban in 2006, and the couple welcomed their first daughter, Sunday Rose, two years later. They also share daughter Faith Margaret, 9. 

After Nicole married Keith, Gemma chose to part ways from Nicole as her personal assistant.

‘The only reason I left was because Nic (Nicole) had come full circle. She had four children, was married again, in a beautiful relationship and deeply happy. She didn’t need me anymore,’ she said. 

Nicole only had positive things to say to the publication about Gemma, adding she ‘loved’ Gemma and was ‘so proud of her’ achievements as a career woman, mother, and wife.
