‘I wasn’t thinking’: Hugh Jackman apologises for coronavirus hand-washing dance video and thanks fans for ‘picking up his mistake’ in clip

Hugh Jackman has apologised for sharing a since-deleted video with fans, which demonstrated a hand-washing dance technique amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The joyous clip was removed by the Australian actor after fans slammed him for wasting water as he danced around his luxury bathroom with the tap on.

On Saturday night, the Wolverine star, 51, admitted he ‘wasn’t thinking’ while making the first video, and shared a secondary version with the tap off.

‘Thank you everyone for picking me up on my mistake, which was to wash my hands while leaving the water running the whole time,’ he said.

‘That was not good. I wasn’t thinking,’ Hugh said, before showing how he washed his hands without the water running.

He captioned the new post: ‘Take 2. You’re ALL absolutely right. Turn off the tap whilst washing your hands. Smart, healthy practices for yourself .. and the planet.’

In the original clip, which was deleted by Hugh less than 12 hours after uploading it to Instagram, was seen in a luxury marble bathroom as he lathered his hands with soap and danced around the sink.

The star was attempting to show the correct hand-washing techniques to the beat of Doja Cat’s Say So – a popular song used with dances on TikTok.

However, the post was soon flooded by comments that were less-than-impressed with Hugh leaving his tap running during the 20-second clip.

Hugh actually addressed the concerns in his since-deleted caption.

He admitted he shouldn’t have left the tap running while it wasn’t in use and would be more cautious with conserving water in the future.

Hugh is based in New York with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 64, and children Oscar Maximilian, 19, and Ava Eliot, 14.
