Ariana Grande urges younger fans to social distance amid COVID-19 spread

Grammy winner Ariana Grande took to social media on Sunday to blast her younger fans for not social distancing during the global coronavirus pandemic.

‘I keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like – “This isn’t a big deal”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/”We’ll be fine”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/”We still have to go about our lives” – and it’s really blowing my mind,’ the 26-year-old pop star wrote via Instastory.

‘I understand that is how [you] felt weeks ago, but please read about what’s going on. Don’t turn a blind eye. It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.  

‘The “we will be fine because we’re young” mindset is putting people who aren’t young and/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. Like now.’

Ariana – who boasts 321.5M combined followers – followed up via Twitter: ‘Like your hip hop yoga class can f***ing wait I promise.’

When some fans checked Grande’s own privilege, including her $50M estimated fortune, she went on a full-scale Twitter rant.

‘”Well some of us have to work!” I understand and entirely support your frustration. I do not mean to disrespect anyone who doesn’t have the privilege of cancelled work or being able to call out of their work,’ the former Nickelodeon child star noted.  

‘But, this is a national emergency and a pandemic of global proportion. I am agreeing [with] y’all. These are the times when the world should rely on their governments to support the plan for all citizens to stay at home and lessen the threat of infection and the spread of the virus.

‘Please support h.r.6201 which has passed the house. This bill will provide people [with] necessary financial support in terms of paid sick leave / unemployment due to corona virus / isolation / prevention! Please contact your senate to support the passing of this bill! Urgently.

‘Instead of responding with your frustration (that I totally agree with and support) call your senators! We need them to support this plan. Everyone deserves to be financially supported and feel safe at home during this time.’

On Saturday night, Ariana lead by example by Instastorying herself in bed with her dogs watching her two favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants – Dahlia Sin and Nicky Doll – lip-sync ‘for their lives’ to her 2014 song Problem.  

Back in 2015, Grande (born Butera) served guest judging duties during the drag queen competition’s seventh season, which crowned Violet Chachki.

Fans can hear the Florida-born beauty’s four-octave soprano pipes on Donald Glover’s new track Time off his surprise 12-song fourth studio album Donald Glover Presents.

However, the 36-year-old Grammy winner’s new record didn’t appear to be streaming properly since being uploaded on his website Sunday.

Ariana has been enjoying a brief career hiatus since guest starring on the February 23 episode of Showtime’s Kidding after concluding her 101-date, $146.6M-grossing Sweetener World Tour on December 22.

Meanwhile, Grande’s fellow Don’t Call Me Angel singer Miley Cyrus Instastoried a snap on Sunday of herself social distancing with ‘a few exceptions’ i.e. three dogs.

The 27-year-old Grammy nominee kept her fans laughing with old videos of her vacuuming her private jet as she urged fans to stop panic shopping and hoarding essentials.

‘No one needs every soup in the store,’ Miley wrote on Instagram. 

‘The more we hoard the more expensive and sparse necessities will become, leaving many without essentials. This is a great time to practice restraint… 

‘It’s incredibly difficult to make smart decisions while panicking, but think twice before following the fear and being inconsiderate. There is enough to go around if we take care of one another. This is a beautiful time to LEAD!’

Cyrus also cheered up her fans by posting vintage clips from her Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana, which aired for four seasons from 2006-2011.

Rapper Cardi B admitted she was ‘a little scared’ and ‘overwhelmed with everything that’s going on around the world.’ 

But the 27-year-old Grammy winner was very amused on Saturday that her recent Instastory rant about COVID-19 was picked up on the national Chinese news. 

‘B**** was all the way in China talking s***!’ Cardi (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) laughed.

‘I don’t know what they was talking about. They probably think I’m a f***ing scientist…Spread the word, don’t spread the germs, b****!’

Boybander Joe Jonas and his pregnant wife – Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner – were ‘not f***ing around’ on Sunday and donned masks and surgical gloves in the car while telling everyone to ‘stay safe.’

Joshua Jackson’s expecting wife Jodie Turner-Smith tweeted on Sunday that she was ‘literally that woman in the movie who’s pregnant during the f***ing apocalypse.’ 

‘Grocery stores are completely empty,’ the 33-year-old Queen & Slim star lamented.
