His current project has seen him team up with director Lin-Manuel Miranda.

And Andrew Garfield had yet another busy day on the set of Tick, Tick… Boom as filming continued in New York on Wednesday.

The actor, 36, got into character as he donned a pair of faded black jeans paired with a knitted jumper, a green scarf and a brown leather jacket.

The Social Network star, who plays aspiring Broadway composer Jon, completed his costume with a simple pair of black lace-up shoes and unkempt hair.

Andrew had a determined look on his face as he mounted a white bicycle and hurried through a makeshift village with the camera crew filming from afar.

Dozens of extras sat lining the walkways as they shrouded themselves in duvets and blankets as fires were lit in empty metal barrels.

Tick, Tick… Boom is adapted from a semi-autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson which was performed as an off-off Broadway one-man show in 1990.

The musical sees leading man Jon face a personal crisis as he considers getting out of show business and leading a stable life.

The real Jonathan Larson eventually earned his place in musical theatre history with the smash 1996 show Rent – but did not live to see his success.

He died aged 35 of an undiagnosed aortic dissection the morning of Rent’s first off-Broadway preview in January 1996.

Later that year, the show opened on Broadway and was a massive triumph which earned Jonathan a posthumous Pulitzer Prize For Drama among other honours.

The project is now being directed by Lin-Manuel, 40, who shot to international fame by writing and starring in the Broadway show Hamilton.

It is his first turn at film directing since the 1996 comedy Clayton’s Friends which was only 59 minutes long.
