Married At First Sight: Ivan Sarakula leaves job at top real estate agency

Married At First Sight EXCLUSIVE: Ivan Sarakula leaves his job at a top Sydney real estate agency over his appearance on Nine’s dating show

Married At First Sight’s Ivan Sarakula left his job of two years as a Sydney real estate agent after taking part in Nine’s social experiment.

He parted ways with McGrath Estate Agents in mid-January after taking three months’ leave of absence to film the reality show last year.

Daily Mail Australia understands there were concerns at McGrath over how Ivan would be portrayed on screen and if this would reflect badly on the business.

During Tuesday’s episode, Ivan was shown hosting an open inspection with his ‘wife’, Aleks Markovic, acting as his assistant. McGrath’s logo was blurred in all signage.

Ivan and McGrath came to the decision to part ways after he returned to work once production had wrapped in December.

He finished with the company the following month in January 2020, after first joining them as a sales agent in February 2018.

Gary Vouris, head of sales for McGrath Sutherland Shire and Illawarra, told Daily Mail Australia the decision had been a mutual one.

Mr Vouris said: ‘It became apparent to both Ivan and us that he could no longer devote the necessary time to meet performance levels required by McGrath.’

Ivan said in his own statement that he was excited to take his career in a new direction following his departure from McGrath.
