‘I am ready for love!’ Dancing with the Stars judge Sharna Burgess ‘has been cast as Australia’s 2020 Bachelorette’

Fans were surprised to say the least when Australian Survivor contestant Locky Gilbert was announced as this year’s Bachelor.

And it seems another Channel 10 personality has been cast as Locky’s female equivalent on The Bachelorette.

Dancing with the Stars judge Sharna Burgess, 34, has officially signed a contract with producers, according to industry website TV Blackbox.

Channel 10 refused to deny the report when contacted by Daily Mail Australia. 

‘We welcome speculation about the identity of the new Bachelorette. We are thrilled that so many talented and accomplished women have expressed interest in appearing on the show,’ a network spokesperson said.

‘We are in the very early stages of casting and an announcement will be made in the coming months,’ they added.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight the Dancing With The Stars US favourite said: ‘I am absolutely looking for love. I am ready for love.’

‘I just got back from Australia and it became a pretty hot topic over there on whether I could be the next Bachelorette in Australia, so that’s an interesting thought for me.’

Sharna said ‘it’s all up in the air’ – but conceded she would also be open to starring on the American version.

Sharna later admitted she had concerns with the format. 

‘This is where I run into trouble with this thought, because what if I’m like, ‘Yeah, I don’t like any of them? We’re gonna have to recast.’ I can’t do that!,’ she laughed.

The dancer also admitted that her ‘honest and upfront’ nature could get her into trouble. 

Sharna worked as a professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars US for twelve seasons, before landing a role on the Australian version’s judging panel in 2019.

She has kept quiet about her romantic life ever since splitting with British dancer Paul Kirkland in 2015.
