The Pussycat Dolls’ raunchy One Show performance sparks 119 complaints to BBC

The One Show received 119 complaints from unimpressed viewers over The Pussycat Dolls recent raunchy performance.

The recently reformed girl group donned racy outfits for their performance on February 26, where they showcased their latest single React.

But the angry response from viewers prompted a statement from the BBC on their website who insisted they worked with the Dolls to ensure the performance was ‘suitable’ for evening audiences.

Not happy: The One Show received 119 complaints from unimpressed viewers over The Pussycat Dolls recent raunchy performance

The broadcaster said: ‘We worked with the band to ensure their performance was suitable. The Pussycat Dolls are well known for their dance routines and outfits and we announced at the start of the show that they would be appearing. Their performance then came towards the end of the programme, just before 8pm.

‘As with all performers, we worked with the band to ensure their performance was suitable for the programme. We felt it was appropriate for the time slot and wouldn’t fall outside the expectations of most viewers. However, we appreciate that some viewers didn’t agree.

‘We believe this film highlighted an important issue. We have noted that some viewers felt that these two items shouldn’t have been included in the same programme.’

The complaints come after The Pussycat Dolls were caught up in an awkward technical blunder during their performance on The One Show.

As they lined up to sing their latest hit, he quintet failed to realise their track had began playing – missing their cues and standing on stage, backs turned.

The girl group – led by frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger, 41 – stood ready to go, facing away from the audience, when One Show host Matt Baker announced them.

The music began, albeit at a low volume, and well into the first verse the ladies remained with their backs turned.

The delay caused Jessica Sutta to turn and look at her fellow singers, all wondering what was happening.

After a painfully long time, the track cut out – with Matt having to step in and re-introduce the group.

The music then came on again, on full volume, and the performance was able to commence.

The band – which also features Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt – were then able to get on with it like the consummate professionals they are.
