  • He was found suffering multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene 

A teenage boy, believed to be 17, has been stabbed to death on a bus in Croydon.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to a stabbing in Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, south London, at about 8.30pm on Sunday evening.

The victim was found suffering multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.07pm.

No arrests have yet been made and a cordon remains in place while enquiries continue.

The attack happened just a short walk from Crystal Palace’s stadium, Selhurst Park.

Whitehorse Lane was closed inn both directions while police forensic officers collected evidence. 

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Enquiries are under way to inform his next of kin.’ 

Police put a Section 60 order in place giving officers extra stop and search powers in the area.  

The death is the 20th murder on the streets of the capital this year. 

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death after being chased outside an east London nightclub.

Ricardo Fuller was attacked outside the club on Ilford High Street at around 5am and was rushed to a hospital in east London where he died six hours later.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, the Metropolitan Police said.

Mr Fuller was the 19th person to be killed in the capital this year, and his death comes just days after another man died of his injuries after being stabbed while on a night out with friends in Kingston, south-west London.

By March 7 last year, London had reached 24 murders as knife crime continued to rise. 

On March 1  the 17th murder investigation in London was opened, when a man in his 20s has been stabbed to death in east London. 

Li-Qing Wang, 35, was found dead, and is believed to have suffered knife wounds, at the home in Leyton.
