Katy Perry’s body is ‘thankful’ she’s quit drinking and smoking and finally ‘treating it nice’ now she’s expecting… as she lauds pregnancy for helping her ‘get over past addictions’

Katy Perry believes her body is grateful to her for ‘treating it nice’ now that she’s pregnant.

The pop star – who announced recently that she and Orlando Bloom are expecting their first child together – appeared on Australia’s Fifi, Fev & Byron show to discuss her news, and explained that she’s finally looking after herself properly.

The 35-year-old singer said: ‘I’m still maintaining the balance, I’m not running myself ragged and I’m not at the club…

‘When you stop drinking and smoking and start creating a baby your body is like “well thanks for treating me nice for one day”.

‘Usually I’m a dry martini in and [my body] is like “please can I have a dirty, an extra dirty martini!”‘

She added, ‘there’s one waiting for me at some point during the summer,’ pointing out that she’s looking forward to a drink once she’s had the baby.

But Katy asserted that her wildness has simmered now, and that she’s left any hedonism behind her.

‘I feel blessed that I’ve been able to survival all this,’ she said. ‘Yes I have had my trials and tribulations. I’m grateful I’m not a drug addict or addicted to much.

‘I’ve been addicted in the past. But I am grateful I’m alive and on the light side.’

She also admitted that she felt low when she first fell pregnant.

‘In the beginning I was a little blue, and that happens,’ she said. ‘But it’s not that way anymore.’

She insisted that Orlando – who proposed to Katy in 2019 on Valentine’s Day – will be the one getting up for the bottle feeds in the middle of the night and that she feels now is the right time for her to have a child.

‘I was that girl that had the baby clothes before there was even a baby… or even an Orlando Bloom!’ she said. ‘I wasn’t ready a couple of years ago but I did the work to get ready. It’s the right time.’

The interview also featured two children – one of whom cried her way through it.

This didn’t seem to faze the mother-to-be though, who will welcome her own baby in the summer.
