Skye Wheatley affected by toilet paper shortage amid coronavirus

Skye Wheatley is the latest star to be affected by the toilet paper shortage, as anxious shoppers around the country fear the spread of coronavirus.

The former Big Brother star-turned-influencer shared a photo to Instagram Stories on Sunday, of empty shelves at her local Coles supermarket on the Gold Coast. 

‘All the toilet paper is gone at our local Coles. I’m done,’ the 25-year-old captioned the picture, alongside several laughing face emojis.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Hamish Blake, 38, joked in an Instagram post that he’s been forced to wear jumbo nappies in the wake of the toilet paper shortage. 

‘Really great, uncomfortable, super expensive, bad value hack for if you can’t get toilet paper at the moment,’ Hamish wrote in the post’s caption.

‘Stay strong. Stay creative,’ the father-of-two added, alongside the hashtag ‘last pack’ and the flexed biceps emoji.

Hamish’s caption ran alongside a photo of himself holding up a pack of jumbo nappies in the aisle of his local supermarket.

On Tuesday, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson revealed on Instagram that she was getting anxious as her neighbours continue to stockpile essential items.  

‘I’m starting to panic, this is all I have left,’ the 45-year-old radio host captioned a photo of two and a half rolls of toilet paper.

She included the hashtag ‘screw you doomsday preppers,’ before adding: ‘[The] irony is, when I panic I need to poo.’ 

On Thursday, Sophie Monk, 40, stripped down and covered herself in ‘loo paper’ for an Instagram photo, taken by her boyfriend Joshua Gross.

The singer and model also shared two videos of her local supermarket’s empty shelves.

‘Guys, for real. This is the Brighton Coles and there’s no toilet paper,’ the mother-of-four said with a laugh.

Rebecca then zoomed in on a tiny section on one shelf that stocked just a few packs of toilet paper. 

‘There’s a bit left so I’m grabbing it all, just down there,’ she said. ‘That’s it, that’s where the toilet paper usually lives.’

‘Oh, my God. Imagine not having any toilet paper. Far out,’ the radio host continued.

Rebecca then shared a photo of the back seat of her car, where she unloaded packs of toilet paper she purchased.

Anxious shoppers in Australia and abroad have been stripping shelves bare of essentials including toilet paper, hand towels, pasta and toothpaste, amid fears over the spread of coronavirus. 

Coronavirus is a respiratory illness accompanied by fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath and fatigue. It can produce pneumonia.

The spread of the disease, which began in Wuhan, China, has seen over 100,000 cases worldwide and over 3,400 fatalities.

The total number of Australians diagnosed with the virus is now 78, including three deaths.
