Vick Hope ‘locked in feud with Capital FM over claims they sidelined her’

Vick Hope is said to be locked in a feud with her former employer Capital FM over claims they sidelined her during her three-year stint.

The TV and radio presenter, 30, who left her role as a Capital Breakfast host last month, reportedly believes she should have been ‘trusted’ to host the show alone in co-star Roman Kemp’s absence, when he starred on 2019’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

A source said: ‘Vick felt sidelined by producers from the beginning. She wasn’t allowed any say on the show or to interview big guests and all advertising from Capital’s Global made it look like she didn’t have a significant role on the station.’

But an insider told MailOnline: ‘Vick was labelled a bad loser when she was voted off Strictly in the early stages of the show and then chose to publicly criticise both the judges and the programme.

‘It’s a real shame that she now seems to be doing exactly the same thing after choosing to leave Capital Breakfast.’

According to The Sun, the 2018 Strictly contestant, who still maintains a close friendship with Martin Kemp’s son, 27, has been left disappointed after putting ‘all her hard graft’ into the programme, but now wants to centre her attention towards the future.

The insider added to the publication: ‘There was a huge London bus campaign which didn’t even feature her. The final straw was when Roman was in the jungle and a random DJ [DJ Rob Howard] was brought in as a lead replacement.

A source close to Capital hit back at the rumours as they said: ‘There was never any problem with Vick being a woman. She’s complained about other jobs, like saying it was a fix when she left Strictly. But that’s her issue. Only she knows why.’

Despite previously referring to Roman as her ‘brother’, Radio 1’s Greg James poked fun at rumours of a feud between the pair at the ARIAs on Wednesday.

He said alongside co-host Emma B with the quip: ‘I’m proud to say I have a true radio legend with me tonight — unlike the Roman Kemp/Vick Hope scenario I’d like to name.’

MailOnline has contacted Global, Vick and Roman’s representatives for further comment.

The radio star shared on Instagram: ‘All good things come to an end and after 3 amazing years co-hosting Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, alongside Sonny [Jay], I’ve made the decision that it is time to move onto pastures new.

‘It has been a great privilege to present alongside two of my best friends in the world: Roman and Sonny have been like brothers to me and I think you are both so incredibly talented.

‘I am enormously grateful to our team at Capital for their constant hard work, incredible support over the years and for all the laughs.

‘And of course to our wonderful listeners who are the reason we do this, I’ll miss waking up with you every morning, thank you for tuning in and always showing so much love.

‘I am sure the show will go from strength to strength, and I look forward to listening in and playing along with Roman’s Mega Hard Super Quiz with the advantage of a couple more hours of sleep under my belt!

‘I am excited about embarking on this next chapter and can’t wait to share some of the future projects I’ve got in store for you. All my love, VH xx’ [sic]

In December 2018, radio presenter Chris Moyles lashed out at Vick and Roman in a shock 20-minute rant.

The veteran host spoke on his Radio X show about the duo as he made explosive claims about their demeanor, insisting their cheery nature is merely an act and they are ‘miserable’ off-air.

As well as discussing their attitude, he said he would like to ‘throttle them, absolutely throttle them’.

Speaking on the show, he said: ‘They’re the jolliest people in the history of the world – “Good morning everybody, huh huh huh” – all that. All I want to do is go down to the studio and throttle them – absolutely just throttle them. You can’t be this happy…

‘Roman – as in numeral – is like: “Good morning, uh huh huh huh huh”. It’s like someone’s shoved a cattle prod up him. But I can see the screens. They’ve all got faces like slapped a***s. All on their phones, heads down, coats still on…

‘If you live outside London you might not know, but Roman’s on every bus. I don’t know who that person is on the bus because when you look in the studio there’s this miserable dude. Then you hear him coming out of the radio…

‘She’s like: “Oh yeah, it’s so great to be alive”. As soon as the microphone is off, they don’t talk to each other – they don’t look at each other…

‘You might have seen her on Strictly. Vick goes like this: “Morning”. Wouldn’t it be great if she just went: “Go screw yourself?”‘

Ahead of her departure, Vick slammed gender inequality in the workplace as she told Marie Claire: ‘I believe we work twice as hard as men, we’re constantly moving for fear that if we stop it will all fall apart. As I found out, if we go too fast, it can all fall apart anyway.’

She added in a separate interview with the publication: ‘It shouldn’t be normal to be told, even by your closest workmate, that ”radio’s an old boys’ club, you’ll learn to get used to it”, or that your chances of nailing a telly gig are seriously enhanced by, frankly, gross flirtation with certain bosses.

‘It shouldn’t be normal to seldom see a single female face in a managerial position or on the boards of the biggest media companies, or to feel out of place sitting in a meeting room full of middle-class, middle-aged white men explaining to you how to tell your own story.’
