Pregnant Sheridan Smith lands her ‘dream job’ presenting on new dog grooming show Pooch Perfect ahead of welcoming first child

She makes no secret of her love for dogs and lives at home with six fur babies. 

And now Sheridan Smith, 38, has landed her ‘dream job’ presenting on BBC One’s new dog styling show Pooch Perfect.

The actress, who is currently expecting her first child with fiancé Jamie Horn, confirmed the news on her Twitter account on Friday.

Alongside an adorable snap of Sheridan with a collection of dogs she said: ‘Can’t wait to host a brand new show on BBC One, Pooch Perfect! All the info here on my website!’ 

The show will feature dog groomers from across the country as they compete with their styling creations on furry friends in order to be crowned the UK’s Top Dog Stylist.    

The Gavin and Stacey star told Mirror Online: ‘To combine my love of dogs with a brand new job presenting for the BBC was a match made in heaven.’

She continued, describing the role as her ‘dream job’: ‘Everyone who knows me will understand that animals, and especially dogs, are very special to me.’  

The TV show is based on an Australian show with the same name which is hosted by Rebel Wilson. 

Sheridan often shares photos of her pups with fans on Instagram, her fur baby collection includes French Bulldogs, Great Danes, Chihuahuas, a pug and English Bulldog.

As well as this exciting project, the Cilla star is also working on a documentary that will follow her pregnancy journey along with fiancé Jamie.  

Sheridan also recently revealed their baby name plans ahead of their first child’s birth. 

She told The Mirror they’ve debated naming their son after her late father Colin, who passed away in 2016.

She said: ‘I think all the names we’ve got so far have been pretty traditional. We thought about naming him after my dad, but my dad’s called Colin, which is a bit….

‘As much as we miss him and love him. Storm, River, Colin… you never know.’

Gushing about her fiancé Jamie, Sheridan added: ‘I’ve had a bit of morning sickness in the beginning, but I’ve been quite lucky. Honestly, he has been looking after me – he’s the best.’
