Pregnant Danielle Armstrong cosies up to new fiancé Tom after announcing engagement

Danielle Armstrong shared a cosy snap with her new fiancé Tom Edney on Friday night during their Dubai babymoon after announcing their engagement on Thursday.

The pregnant TOWIE star, 31, took to Instagram to post a sweet photo of herself cuddled up to her best friend of 22 years.

In the snap, Danielle looked radiant as she showed off her dazzling diamond ring and growing baby bump in a stunning off-the-shoulder red dress.

Tom looked dapper in a pair of beige trousers and a blue satin shirt with brown loafers.  

Feeling excited about her new engagement, Danielle captioned it: ‘My Fiancé,’ followed by a happy face, heart eyes and a ring emoji. 

The reality star also took to Instagram to share several fun videos where she joked about having to ‘wear flats’ instead of heels now that she’s seven months pregnant.   

It comes after Danielle, who is currently expecting her first child – a daughter, with Tom, announced she was engaged to her best friend of 22 years on Thursday during their romantic babymoon in Dubai. 

Showcasing her sparkling ring in a series of loved-up snaps to Instagram, the mother-to-be wrote: ‘Feel Like The Luckiest Girl In The World Right Now… I SAID YES ☺️ #imengaged.’ [sic]

The media personality, who is currently seven months pregnant, appeared on cloud nine as she posed alongside her new fiancé on a yacht in the celebrity hot spot. 

Essex native Danielle looked radiant as she showcased her baby bump in a tiny monochrome bikini alongside her shirtless partner.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Danni Boutique owner was elated as she gushed: ‘So… I said yes! You’ve actually done very well. I actually felt sick from the boat, I didn’t know what to do!

‘You excited to marry me?’, she asked her partner, before declaring: ‘Mrs. Edney to be!’

Danielle’s BFF Ferne McCann shared her excitement as she wrote: ‘Couldn’t be happier for my girl @daniellearmstrong88 & Tom. Literally screamed when she told me. This is your year my darlings.’ [sic]

Her other industry pals also rushed to the comments section to congratulate her, with ex-Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison enthusing: ‘OH MY GOD!!!! Congratulations missus!!!! So pleased for you.’ [sic]

Model Casey Batchelor, who gave birth to her second daughter in January, penned: ‘Arrrhhhhh Amazing news. Huge congratulations lovely xxx’, while TOWIE’s Sam Mucklow added: ‘Congratulations xx.’ [sic]

Following Danielle’s announcement, Andrew Brown, WP Diamonds CEO, offered his expertise on her engagement ring to MailOnline.

He told us: ‘The ring looks to be a 2ct round diamond on a 6-prong platinum mounting. 

‘Assuming it’s G colour VS clarity, it would retail for around £20,000. Although, if it’s a Tiffany & Co. ring (6-prong), then it would retail for approximately £35,000.’

Back in September last year, the blonde beauty confirmed she had found love again with her childhood sweetheart, shortly after splitting from her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, Daniel Spiller. 

Danielle revealed she’s set to become a mother with her social media followers two months later, becoming the third TOWIE star to announce their pregnancy in recent months.

Lydia Bright – who gave birth to her daughter last week – revealed she was expecting in August and Lucy Mecklenburgh followed with her baby news weeks later. 

In December, she revealed she has prenatal depression and is receiving therapy. Danielle, who has been receiving treatment for a year as her ‘anxiety was so bad’, admitted she struggled both physically and emotionally during her first trimester. 

Danielle, who is now in a ‘good place’, shared she ‘didn’t know what was wrong’ and felt ‘guilty’ her partner Tom was more excited about the pregnancy than she was.

She told Closer: ‘I was struggling because I felt really tired and wasn’t excited, I felt guilty that Tom was more excited than me. One day, I was crying on the sofa. I felt low and down – I didn’t know what was wrong with me because I’ve always wanted to be a mum.’ 

‘People don’t often speak about the downsides of pregnancy but hundreds of women messaged me saying they’re pleased I spoke out – it’s called prenatal depression and it’s really common.’

The online sensation revealed she has been in therapy for a year after she suffered with ‘bad anxiety’ following the tragic death of one of her best friends, Sammy Brandon, who passed away following a breast cancer battle aged 29 in June 2018.   

She continued to the magazine: ‘When Tom and I started dating, I told him and he’s been really supportive. Now my anxiety has massively eased and I’m in a good place – but that doesn’t mean I should stop going to therapy.’ 

Prenatal depression, also know as perinatal depression, can affect up to 20% of new and expecting mothers.   

It is different to postnatal depression, which affects 1 in 10 new mothers, as it occurs during your pregnancy.

The NHS website claims that symptoms, indicating you could have prenatal depression, include not sleeping well, feeling sad, negative thoughts, a loss of appetite and a lack of interest or pleasure doing things.

Treatment often involves therapy such as interpersonal therapy (IPT) or cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), medication or both.  

Prenatal depression’s cause is unclear, however, it is more common in those with a history of mental-health problems. If you or your partner may be suffering, talk to your GP or health visitor.  

Documenting her pregnancy, Danielle launched her very own YouTube channel in November. 

Before embarking on a relationship with Tom, the fitness enthusiast split from Herne Bay footballer in August 2019.

Danielle was previously in a relationship with businessman James Lock, 32, who she dated on and off from 2014 until 2016.
