Khloe Kardashian says Kylie Jenner didn’t breastfeed

Khloe Kardashian has opened up about her ‘horrible’ experience trying to breastfeed daughter True.

The reality star was left with ‘bleeding’ breasts as she struggled to produce enough milk, amid the stress of revelations about then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s infidelity. 

But, she explained, she was so concerned about being judged, that she ‘felt like I was smuggling drugs’ when she finally turned to formula for her daughter, True.

Luckily she had sisters Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner to help, explaining that they advised her on which brand to buy.

‘I asked Kim, and I knew Kylie wasn’t going to breastfeed,’ Khloe told her big sister Kourtney. ‘That was her [Kylie’s] choice from the start, and she found HiPP formulas from Germany and it was like “I’ve read all these reviews” and it was awesome.’ 

But before getting to that point, Khloe had become ‘delirious’, she tried so hard to breastfeed her daughter. 

‘I would eat the stupid [lactation] cookies I would drink the stupid tea, I would be on this diet, I would pump every time she was napping,’ she told Kourtney. ‘But it never stopped. And as soon as I would pump she would wake up and I would have to breastfeed her again and my breasts were bleeding and it was horrible.’

And Khloe admitted: ‘I hated every minute, it was torture, I felt like I never gave True enough food. She was always hungry and once I stopped the amount of pressure that was lifted off my shoulders and I could enjoy my daughter.’  

Kourtney breastfed all three of her children, without using any formula to supplement.

Khloe complained that: ‘Your experience seemed so easy, and it wasn’t for me.’

Kourtney, who interviewed Khloe for her lifestyle website Poosh, said that wasn’t the case, and she went through a lot of pain as she learnt to breastfeed. ‘It’s not so easy, I remember the first month being the hardest, there is pain involved.’ 

As breastfeeding seemingly came easier for Kourtney, Khloe revealed that she was so frustrated by the process that she even contemplated physical violence.

The younger sibling said: ‘You were always trying to help me and give me tips, and I was like, “It’s just not working!”

‘I wanted to, like, strangle you. Your experience seemed so easy and it wasn’t for me.’

‘I used to get almost frustrated with you,’ Khloe continued. ‘Not that you even did anything, but you would just talk about this experience you had, and how beautiful [it was]. You would say things not at all trying to criticize me, but I would take it like, ‘it’s not that easy’.’

Khloe admitted that her own situation wasn’t ideal. She found out about her boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s infidelity shortly before she gave birth. 

‘I was under a lot of stress, there was a lot going on in my life at the time that played a part in why I wasn’t producing so easily… Being alone in Cleveland by myself, not having family there.’ 

So, she turned to formula. But even though her doctor advised it, Khloe was devastated.

‘I remember the first time I had to give her formula I felt like I failed,’ she told a sympathetic Kourtney.

‘I almost felt like I was struggling drugs the first time I bought formula. I was like “OK, no, I’m not going to tell anyone.”

But she said she realized she had to look after her own mental health.

‘At some point you’re already delirious. I was alone in Cleveland, I just felt really lonely, like sometimes when she’s asleep, I maybe just needed a shower, or 20 minutes to zen out.’

And she said she finally realized she could be a good mom, without breastfeeding.

‘I’m all for breast feeding, I tried. But if you can’t do it you don’t have to feel like a failure, you don’t have to feel “I’m bad at this mom thing”. I’m great at this mom thing.’
