Love Island winner Paige Turley reveals ex-boyfriend Lewis Capaldi congratulated her via text following Cape Town triumph
Love Island winner Paige Turley has revealed her ex-boyfriend Lewis Capaldi congratulated her on winning the hit show in February.
The Scottish singer became a household name after winning the inaugural winter series of the ITV2 dating show alongside Oxford based footballer Finn Tapp, with the couple splitting its £50,000 prize money.
And old flame Lewis, with whom she remains on good terms, was one of the first people to congratulate her on the triumph following her return from South Africa.

She told BBC Today: ‘He just congratulated me obviously because of Love Island but I’ve not really had a chance to catch up with anybody. It’s been hectic. We’re still good friends.’
Paige dated Lewis, now a global superstar thanks to hits including Someone You Loved, while the pair studied together in their native Motherwell, West Lothian.
Their relationship became a talking point among fans during her participation in the latest series of Love Island, but she admitted to being unfazed by her repeated connection to Lewis, despite winning the show in her own right.

She said: ‘I think because I knew Lewis before, I don’t know Lewis as a superstar. I know Lewis for Lewis. Because I’ve known him beforehand he’s always just been Lewis – it’s normal for me.’
Just five days before her triumph in Cape Town, Lewis enjoyed a major success of his own by winning Song Of The Year for Someone You Loved.
Accepting his award, the singer took the opportunity to rubbish claims his biggest hit was inspired by his relationship Paige.

He announced: ‘Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend, who you can now see every night on Love Island.
‘It’s actually about my grandmother who has sadly passed away a few years ago. I hope to god that ITV don’t contact her to be on a reality TV dating show.’
Paige previously referenced the song during her VT for Love Island.
She confidently declared: ‘I’m Paige, I’m 22 and a singer from West Lothian. I’d describe myself as loud and flamboyant.
‘One of my ex boyfriends is Lewis Capaldi. According to the papers his song Someone You Loved was about me. Lewis, I’m so sorry I must have been a b***h to you.’
