Line Of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar left baffled by GMB sound glitch

‘We need H!’: Line Of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar left baffled by GMB sound glitch… as host Susanna Reid reveals she BROKE her coronavirus hugging ban for star

Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar was left baffled after an audio glitch disrupted his interview on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain.

The actor, 61, who plays gaffer Superintendent Ted Hastings in the police procedural drama, looked shocked as his interview with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid began with garbled intro music.

The GMB theme began playing before a snippet of the Line Of Duty end theme started, which then abruptly cut off and was replaced with the daytime show theme once more.

Susanna exclaimed: ‘What’s going on? We need H! We need the fourth H!’ as Adrian laughed out loud.

The interview then got underway with Adrian discussing the hotly anticipated sixth series of the drama, currently filming in Belfast.

He said: ‘We’re doing a Sport Relief special- we just finished our first week’s work and they we got piled into an interrogation scene, it was great!

‘It’s a serious series, but we need to have a laugh to keep it all bubbling along.’

When asked if the coronavirus epidemic could affect filming, Adrian said: ‘I haven’t really thought about that to be honest, I’m of the opinion that it’s a bad flu and if you’re old or have respiratory problems then you should really be aware of it but just follow the advice.’

Susanna then said: ‘I did break my hugging ban when you came into the studio!’

Piers retorted: ‘That’s Stockholm syndrome because he kidnapped you once.’

Susanna and Adrian enjoyed something of a reunion as they recalled their joint appearance on 1984 crime-drama The Price, in which her character was kidnapped by the youthful actor. Susanna was aged 12 at the time.

Speaking about Line of Duty, Susanna asked: ‘You aren’t allowed to know the script?’

Adrian responded: ‘Well possibly, we usually get the first few blocks and we know what’s happening in episode four but not five and six.’

He also said series six would be ‘probably be at the end of the year or January/February time.’

The series return will will see the reveal of H’s true identity with creator Jed Mecurio teasing fans on Twitter last week when he shared a picture from filming.

Insight: Discussing coronavirus precautions, such as avoiding physical contact and washing hands for 20 seconds, Susanna said: ' 'I did break my hugging ban when you came into the studio!'

In the snap, Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) point guns at one another, while a passed-out Ted Hastings lies slumped on a chair between them.

A giant ‘H’ lies against him, implying that he IS the infamous and mysterious villain, who masterminds the legion of ‘bent coppers’ who infiltrate AC-12.

However, it’s likely to be a playfully set up picture as there’s no way Jed would make such a revelation before the series starts.

He wrote: ‘A great first week of filming #LineofDuty Series 6 ⁦@BBCOne. Here’s a publicity shot that’s been approved 100% spoiler free by ⁦⁦@bbcpress.’

The cast and crew of Line Of Duty started work on the sixth series last month.
