Kate Middleton stuns in a bold pink gown as she steps out with Prince William in Dublin

Kate Middleton cut a fashionable figure as she donned a bold fuchsia polka dot gown for a glamorous reception alongside Prince William in Dublin this evening.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 38, selected the vintage dress by designer Oscar de la Renta, as she arrived alongside Prince William, 37, for the event, which was hosted by Tánaiste Simon Coveney.

The royal paired the trendy pink dress, which featured a ruffle neck and bold black polka dots, with a black clutch bag and a pair of dangling gold earrings.

She teamed the statement gown with a pair of black heels, while the Duke of Cambridge sported a smart navy suit for the occasion.

The mother-of-three has regularly worn the designer in the past, often wearing her magenta skirt suit by Oscar de la Renta for royal appearances.

This evening she donned the bold vintage gown, which featured buttons down the chest and black detailing across the waist and sleeves, sweeping her hair into a ponytail to reveal the neck detailing.

She sported glamorous makeup with a pink lipstick and a dark smokey eye, and swept her hair into an intricate up-do.

The Duke is expected to speak about the Troubles and ‘many wrongs’ of Ireland and the UK’s ‘complex’ shared history at the reception.

He will give the keynote speech of the couple’s visit in which he will refer to yesterday’s moving ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance, where he and Kate paid tribute to those who had lost their lives fighting for Irish independence from the UK.

Earlier today, the royal couple kicked off a busy day of engagements with a visit to Jigsaw, the national centre for youth mental health in Ireland, which provides vital support across a range of one-to-one, community, school and online services.

The Duchess recycled an elegant Reiss coat she first wore more than a decade ago as she joined Prince William for the visit.

She first debuted the garment when she joined then boyfriend William for cousin Peter Phillips’ 30th birthday party in November 2007.

The thrifty royal re-wore the piece a number of times in the following years, including to her 26th birthday dinner in January 2008 and to Prince William’s RAF graduation in the April of that year.

It has remained in the wardrobe in the decade since but was brought back out for the second day of their Irish royal tour today.

It comes after the Duchess showcased expensive new additions to her wardrobe on the first day of the royal tour yesterday, including a £1,595 dress by The Vampires’s Wife, a £1,567 look by Alessandra Rich and a pair of £17,300 diamond earrings.

Today was a decidedly more low-key look for the royal. She wore the Reiss coat, which features contrasting black buttons, over an Equipment blouse that she has worn previously.

She finished the look with a pair of £100 shamrock charm earrings by Daniella Draper – a nod to her hosts – and a pair of £225 ankle boots by Russell & Bromley.

The couple met young people supported by Jigsaw and joined a conversation with community campaigners, teachers, parents and coaches about the impact of its work within their respective communities.

Later they visited Savannah House in County Kildare, a residential facility run by social justice charity Extern, which supports young people with issues from being homeless to dealing with drug and alcohol problems.

William and Kate are making their first official visit to Ireland, a three-day trip which began yesterday and will take them from Dublin to Galway.
