Camila Cabello marks 23rd birthday with heartfelt message to shed light on Syrian civil war: ‘one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world’

She’s gearing up to be the next Cinderella, and partied in style to ring in her 23rd trip around the sun.

But Camila Cabello took some time on her birthday on Tuesday to think about those a lot less fortunate than her — namely, the youth of Syria.

The Havana songstress posted a heartfelt message to her Instagram for the occasion, alongside a reflective selfie, in which she called upon her fans to help displaced families affected by the ongoing war in Syria and specifically in the city of Idlib.

‘ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!! guys thank u for all of the birthday love, I absolutely love you guys and am so thankful for you,’ she wrote alongside a sweet selfie in which she’s dressed in a purple ribbed turtleneck, her trademark brunette tresses cascading down over her shoulders.

‘for my birthday I wanna bring attention to one of the worst humanitarian crises happening in the world right now, in Syria,’ she continued.

‘950,000 people have been forced to flee their homes because of the violence in Idlib – some with only the clothes on their backs. Most of them are children. Now, they’re living in displacement camps in freezing cold temperatures. families shouldn’t have to choose between dying from bombs or freezing cold temperatures’, Cabello added, before making a call to action.

Late last month, Camila also retweeted an alert from Save The Children, which is endeavoring to get the message out about the humanitarian crisis in Syria due to ongoing civil war and conflicts there.

According to Save The Children’s website, the crisis in Idlib has reached ‘a new level of horror’ as 10 schools have been hit in a ruthless attack, causing mass displacement and ‘900,000 vulnerable people in northwest Syria facing a brutally cold winter. Children are dying every day from freezing temperatures.’
